Picking up Sts Q
Hi All,

The saga continues with the brilliant Avast sweater: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/avast

Does anyone know what it means to "pick up and k 4 sts for every 5 rows along edge of band?" I have picked up sts before, but I can't fathom 4 sts for every 5 rows...using 29" circulars with 1 st currently on the needles (due to BO), would I have to count 5 rows, then pick up 4 sts with the same needle holding the current, last st? This seems like it would create a pocket...

Perhaps it's time to put this project down for a mite...

Any advice so very welcome! Thanks!

You pick up 4 and skip one. If you picked up every stitch, then the band would be too big, since row gauge and stitch gauge differ.

It seems that you'd have a space, but the edging pulls everything together and it is not an issue at all.

For the beginning, pick up 3 and skip one, then 4 and skip all the way
