Intarsia First-Timer
Hello! I have a quick question.

I am about to start knitting a toy that requires intarsia. Two main colors are used, blue and red. Blue makes up most of the entire toy, while four red vertical lines are knit throughout the blue, each red line only 1 st wide....

Can I manage knitting the red with separate bobbins, BUT stranding the blue behind the red lines?? The thought of 8 strands going at once for my first Intarsia is terrifying...

Thank you so much!!

Carla.

Is it a stripe or true intarsia? Do you have a link?

Hey Jan,

Yes here's the link.. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mr-roboto-2

I am working on the middle blue and red robot at the moment... it's literally just straight vertical lines, i have no idea if that is 'true' intarsia or not..

I decided to jump in, and made four separate red yarn balls and am knitting the blue from the same skein, stranding it behind the red... so far i think it's working!!

Thanks again!

Yes, that is intarsia. Intarsia is done flat and seamed you use bobbins for each color change. It sounds like you're doing it correctly!
