Does that mean K all the way through and at the end, inc 1(dec1:dec3)? Or do I K, inc or dec, K, inc or dec, K, inc or dec...?

I'm working on a medium with 92 stitches currently, so by the end of this row, I should have 91? So "K row, dec1 at end of row" makes sense? I'm confused. Any help is appreciated...

What's in the () are for different sizes of the pattern. Your title says 'evenly' across so for the medium you decrease a stitch - in the middle of the row would be fine, then you will have 91 stitches.

Hi, I have 20 stitches to be made into 81. following is the instruction. I am not able to understand the ones in the bracket. can anyone help me in this. I am knitting a baby bonnet.

The numbers/instructions in the brackets are for different sizes - S M or L I guess. Since you're doing the small one ignor the others and k1 inc across the rows. Though I'm not sure since it says 'inc 1 evenly' which means you'd only inc 1 st so you should have 80 sts at that point. Do you have a link to the pattern, or can you write the row that comes before this one?

With 2.75mm needles, cast on 97 (112: 127) sts and work as follows:
Row 1 (RS) K1, yfwd, * k5, slip the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th sts over the first st, yfwd; rep from * to
last st, k1.
Row 2 P1, * [p1, yon, k1 tbl] all into next st, p1; rep from * to end. 81 (93: 105) sts.
Row 3 K and dec 1 st at end of row. 80 (92: 104) sts.
Rows 4, 5 and 6 K1, * p1, yon, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 7 K and inc 1(dec 1: dec 3) sts evenly across row. 81 (91: 101) sts.

Could you edit your post to take out most of the pattern and only leave the part you're asking about? Even for a free pattern, it's against copyright regulations to repost a pattern in its entirety.

All you need is these rows - With 2.75mm needles, cast on 97 (112: 127) sts and work as follows:

- which is a little different than you paraphrased it. You don't have 20 sts you started with 112 sts, and lost some on row 1 and a single st on row 3.

So now you should have 92 sts and on row 7 just decrease one stitch, somewhere in the middle would be fine, and you'll have 92.

Hi, thanks for the clarification. I started with 97 sts, I had 80 sts after row3 and in rows 4,5,6 since it was mentioned K2tog the 80sts are decreased to 20sts. I think i have made a mistake in this. Can you pls tell me what k2tog means here.

You don't reduce the sts from 80 to 20 in rows 4, 5, and 6? The 'yon' is a YO and it offsets the K2tog which will keep the st numbers the same - 80.
