would like to know if you can M1R and M1L in the same pattern is kl, M1R, M1L, kl. This is for a thumb gusset for some fingerless mitts (Sourwood Mountain Fingerless Mitts). I would have thought there would be a k between the two increases. Thank you

The M1s go between sts, so the first one you knit a bunch of sts, m1, k1, m1, knit some more stitches. Look at the videos for m1L and m1R.
