How to get this pattern to change directions?

I am knitting this pattern for a scarf
Rows 1 & 2: k2, p2 across all 36 stitches
Row 3: k1. *p2, k2* until 3 stitches from the end. p2, k1
Row 4: p1. *k2, p2* until 3 stitches from the end. k2, p1
Row 5: p2, k2 across all 36 stitches
Row 6: Repeat Row 5
Row 7: Repeat Row 4
Row 8: Repeat Row 3
Repeat these 8 rows until the scarf reaches 66 inches or desired length.

It is diagonal in one direction. I made a mistake several rows back so the diagonal switched directions. Instead of ripping it out, I think I will switch directions again, so it looks like it was on purpose. I know I must have repeated a row or done one too many times, can you help me figure out how to get it to switch directions??
