Hello below is the gauge I am a begginer What does the 2/2lc mean?

2lc I think means 2 stitches on cable in front what does the 2 before that mean?

2/2LPC: Sl 2 sts onto cn and hold in front, p2, k2 from cn.
2/2RC: Sl 2 sts onto cn and hold in back, k2, k2 from cn.
2/2RPC: Sl 2 sts onto cn and hold in back, k2, p2 from cn.
3/2LPC: Sl 3 sts onto cn and hold in front, p2, k3 from cn.
3/2RC: Sl 2 sts onto cn and hold in back, k3, k2 from cn.
3/2RPC: Sl 2 sts onto cn and hold in back, k3, p2 from cn.
3/3RC: Sl 3 sts onto cn and hold in back, k3, k3 from cn.

The numbers refer to sts and the Lc/Rc are right cross and left cross. With the P in them, 2 of the sts are purled. So you slip 2 and hold in front or back, then knit or purl 2 sts, then work the 2 sts from the holder.

the 2/2 means that you cross 2 stitches over to other ones. But that is not necessary with all cables. Some cross 2 over 1 stitch, 3 over 2 and so on. To tell you what is going on here, it tells you to

2/2lc

so: cross 2 over 2 left cable, so the stitches on the cable needle go infront of the work.

As suzeeq said already: Sometimes you cross over purl stitches here. Then there is a "P" written with the stitches. If not, then the stitches get knit.
