Need help identifying yarn

I purchased this skein of yarn second-hand. It did not come with a label. And I'm new to knitting. So, I don't know what type of yarn it is. I'm attaching a picture. Maybe someone can help me identify it.

Could you also suggest an appropriate needle size? And maybe some possible pattern(s) which would be suitable for this type of yarn (I only have this one skein).
