I am knitting the blanket of this pattern and havent kniitted for years. I am now coming to the side edgings and it is making no sense to me. It says ' pick up and 10 sts along evenly along rib, 150 sts evenly along side edge and 10 sts evenly along rib. 170 sts.
I can't work this out as the pattern is 96 sts and if I only pick up 10 at the top and bottom will I end up with a triangle??? Help me please it is driving me nuts.
My guess from what you said is that the end borders were ribbed and worked right on. So you began with some ribbing then went into whatever is the main body of the blanket. Then at the end you did more ribbing.
Now they are having you add some side borders (end borders are already there). Pick up 10 stitches along the ends of the ribbing section, then pick up 150 along the main body of the blanket, then on the other border pick up another 10 stitches along the ribbing that is there=170 sts altogether.
I think what Merigold said makes the most sense.
You've got 96 stitches on your needle - did they tell you to bind off yet? I guessing yes. Now you need to pick up stitches along the side - a total of 170.
