knit 1 stitch on the wrong side and purl 1 on the right side?

Hi!

What does this mean...?
knit 1 stitch on the wrong side and purl 1 on the right side.
And from what I understand this should be done in 1 stitch.

This is followed by:
purl 1 stitch on the wrong side and knit 1 on the right side.

I am trying to knit a shoulder varmer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you work that stitch on the RS you knit it; when you come to the same stitch on the WS you purl it. Or purl the stitch on the RS row, and knit it on the WS row. This doesn't mean you do both at the same time, only on whichever row you're working on.

Wow, you sure cleared that up for me. And made it sound simple too.
Patterns have a tendency to sound more complicated then they actually are.

When you're not familiar with how patterns or charts are written they can seem very complicated. But as you get more experience with them, they're much simpler to understand. It just takes practice.
