I need a basic sock pattern that uses 4mm needles

....it SPECIFICALLY needs to be 4 double pointed 4mm needles, and NEEDS to fit about a girls 3- women's 5 shoe size. If it's Size 2 in girls that'll work to..but they can't be too big

also, I would perfer a pattern in which the socks go a few inches above the ancle- not anglets or knee highs.

I just tried my hand at a pattern that says "women size small" but my mom and I (whom I'm making the socks for) are very tiny women, and thus we need a smaller sock.

Are you using a worsted weight yarn? That would be what you need to knit on that size needle. You can try doing a search on 'worsted sock pattern', I don't know of any offhand.
