How do you start a new skein of yarn ???

Just tie it on to the working yarn with a slip knot and start knitting with it. Knit a few rows with it and then come back and do this : undo the slip knot and wrap the yarns over each other and pull them gently together like tying your shoe and weave in the ends. I do not finish the granny knot, just the first part of it.

I just start knitting with it. When I weave in the ends I cross the yarns and weave them in on the opposite side and any gap is closed.
