I've been knitting an easy top-down sweater in the round and am now on the sleeve. I've picked up the stitches off my stitch holder and added 8 more sts from the bottom of the sleeve hole and then it says:
Rounds 1 - 5 Knit
Round 6 - (decrease): K1, make left-slanting dec, k to 3 sts before end of round, make rt-slanting decrease, k1.
Repeat this round until sleeve measures 17" or your preferred length.
Work 10 rounds of 1X1 rib and b.o.
Well, I knit it Round 6 over and over with a decrease at the beginning and end of each round but soon my sleeve was looking very odd and I felt that, if I continued in this way, the sleeve would be a point before I knit 17".
I ripped it back and started again, this time, I did the dec. round and then I did a knit even round. It seems to be coming out much better.
The pattern is from Knitting for Dummies - P. 286
Have I read it wrong?
Thanks,
