Pattern must be wrong!
I am on the decrease part of a hat.
I started with 88 stitches, k4, p4 ribbing. The first few rounds of the decrease seem ok but then it seems like some of the stitches are missing in the pattern instructions.
Round 1: (k4, p2tog, p2) around (77 stitches)
Round 2: (k4, p3) around
Round 3: (k4, p2tog, p1) around (66 stitches)
Round 4: (k4, p2) around
Round 5: (k2, k2tog, p1) around {do I really start knitting the pearls as I would have 2 pearls at this point??}
Round 6: (k3, p2) around
Round 7: (k1,k2tog, p1) around (44 stitches)
Round 8: (k2, p2) around
Round 9: (k2tog, p2tog) around (22 stitches)
Round 10: k2tog around (11 stitches)
It is more than likely I am wrong in thinking the directions are wrong but I am wondering about the p1 in round 5 and 7.
Thanks!

No, I think that you're right.

If Row 4 is k4, p2, and row 5 is k2, k2tog, you'd have to work those next two stitches as purls.
As long as there are 2 purls there to work, then work them.
It's the only thing that makes sense.

"Round 5: (k2, k2tog, p1) around {do I really start knitting the pearls as I would have 2 pearls at this point??}"
The previous round was k4, p2 so you wouldn't be knitting the purls together, but 2 of the 4 previous knit sts. Though there's a typo there, it should be - k2, k2tog, p2 because the next round is k3, p2.
