Beginning knitter looking for first 'official' project
I taught myself to knit about 4 months ago and have really been enjoying it. (I have been crocheting for 2 yrs and really enjoy it too.) And now, I'm looking for an easy beginning project. Emphasis on beginning Any ideas?
I would just try some scarves or maybe some dishcloths. Just some simple, small projects that won't completely overwhelm you(it's easily done lol). Are you on ravelry? I'm sure you could find something on there.
Simple would be scarves and dishcloths, but do you want more of a challenge? How about a hat or a baby sweater? You could learn increases and decreases for making simple shaping. Do you know how or want to learn to knit in the round?
I am wanting to learn anything and everything! I am on ravelry and have been looking through some of their patterns as well as some of their threads. I am a pretty fast learner for the most part and am looking for somewhat of a good beginning challenge piece. Patterns with multiple colors amaze me but I haven't decided if I'm brave enough to try them yet
Just play with the yarn and needles. If you have leftover yarn, pick a pattern that contains techniques you'd like to learn, and try it out. You'll actually learn a lot that way.
I learned to knit by doing an afghan that had a bunch of squares all in different patterns. I wish I could remember the name of the book. Since they were like 8 x 8 squares I learned a lot of new techniques and never got too bored with any of them. I recently found the book again but gave it away to a beginning knitter as a project for her.
That's a good idea too! I have crocheted afghans before but haven't done a whole lot of knitting yet. I did figure out the basic rope cable today which has me really excited
