Need something fast and easy

I'm a pre-vet college student. For admission into CSU's veterinary school, I need volunteer hours (animal-related and non-animal-related). I thought that I would get some of these hours by doing some knitting for charity. I don't have a lot of time to knit, so I need something that doesn't take long and is easy to complete. I thought that I would start by knitting baby booties and baby hats and donating them to a local hospital. I was trying to think about what else I could knit, but I don't know what else to do. I would appreciate any feedback!

Chemo hats or newborn hats are a good choices. Both are quick and easy. I would contact your local hospitals to if either of those are needed/wanted. I'm not sure about booties, but you could ask about those as well.

Have you knit in the round before? Seamless is preferred for comfort for both of these types.

Hi!

I just finished 12 of these little hats for underweight newborns which will be shipped to babies and mothers in need all over the world. One ounce of yarn and an hour or so per hat and you've contributed to possibly saving a life! What a wonderful service.

Well, you can knit blankets, scarfs, hats, mittens, ponchos, etc, for the homeless.
As far as animal related community service goes, you can also knit comfortable dog blankets and pillows to turn into the animal shelters. The pattern is pretty easy to improvise - I'm sure you could use a pair of very large circulars, knit the outside of a pillow, stuff it with batting, and then seam it on the sides.
And as far as items for the homeless, there are thousands of patterns online that are simple and quick....just type into google "Basic knitted hat" or "scarf pattern knitting" or "basic patchwork blanket".

5 knitters take turns knitting sections of thick blankets that are used in the floor of animal shelter cages. The completed blankets are donated, and keep homeless animals warm and comforted.

Check out www.bevscountrycottage.com. She has quick to knit patterns for hats for newborns and premies. You can always knit quick hats on size 10 1/2 needles and donate them to the Salvation Army. There's all kinds of patterns and places to donate on Bev's site.
