Adding a section of lace to a shawl
I am knitting a fantastic shawl (it’s been a great KAL) but want to change the last lace pattern. I have a book that shows all different kinds of lace patterns but I am not sure how to go about changing from the original pattern (each ‘clue’ has been a different pattern). Am I making sense? At the end of the current pattern, the last row is basically broken out like this:

79, 1, 76, 1, 76, 1 79

The 1st and last sections (79 stitches) include K3 at the beginning and end of each row.

I realize that I probably am using all the wrong terms to try to explain current state and what I’d like to do - your input is appreciated.

You would want to find a pattern whose repeated sts fit into the 76 st sections. A multiple of 6 plus 4 or 12 plus 4 would work, or a multiple of 4 sts or 8 plu 4 sts. Look at the st patterns sorted by stitch count at knitting fool to see what may work.
