Confused with the numbers
I am not sure why but I am not wrapping my head around this. The pattern is for booties and it doesn't say to turn or anything but I am left with 4 unworked stitches on the first row. Great start!

CO 35,
Row 1: K1, inc 1, K 14, inc 1, place marker, k1, place marker, inc 1, k 14, inc 1, k1 - 39 stitches
Row 2: knit

Okay so I have 35 and after doing the instructions in Row 1 I still have 4 unworked stitches. I am sure there is something so obvious I am missing. Help please!

I think what's missing is: inc in the next st.
