The way you insert the R needle into the stitch is the same as the way you insert it if you were going to knit it. Knitwise is not a separate instruction, it goes with slipping the stitch. Slipping purlwise would be to insert the needle as if you were going to purl it.

Thank you...for some reason, I read more into this than necessary..if it's sl as to k..seems it could have just said that,eliminating the -...like maybe i was supposed to s1 twice.
