I am new to this forum and fairly new to knitting again after not having done any for around fifteen years. I have started a sleeve for a little girl's cardigan and am confused already! The pattern states to work in rib for the first five rows, to work in purl on row 6 and then to 'work in stocking stitch inc 1 st at each end of 5th and every foll 12th row'. Does that mean increase on rows 5, 12, 24, 36 etc or increase on rows 5, 17, 29, 41 etc. I am unsure as to whether it means 12 rows from the 5th row or 12 rows from casting on. Hope I have explained this suitably...
After you work in ribbing for 5 rows, you do R 6 in purl. Row 7 is the first knit row of the stockinette and where you begin counting from. So the incs are done on rows 5 (from the first knit row) 17, 29, etc.
Thank you for the help. I thought that was the case but felt it best just to seek clarification. I'm sure I'll be posting again soon when I get stuck... xx
