The website Videos
Has anyone else noticed that the website help videos are stopping and starting, not working well. Or is it just my computer? I'm thinking they've been viewed so many thousands of times that they are wearing out? Feedback please, thanks!:

No, they don't 'wear out', they're digital. It may be your internet connection dropping out or timing out if it slows down.

Any specific one you can mention. There's too many for me to check them all, but I'll check one or two on my computer and see.

I agree with Sue though..it's probably your internet connection.

Hi Rhonda,

Thanks for your message. I am not aware of any issues with the videos. From my side (I run the servers here) the videos appear to be streaming normally. It's possible your connection is having problems, or your connection is having trouble communicating with the server. My first suggestion would be to reboot the computer and see if it makes a difference. If that doesn't help, it might just be something transient between your computer and the server and I'd suggest trying again.

I'm glad the videos don't wear out! We'd be replacing them like crazy if they did. Last year the videos were viewed close to 20 million times. Folks like their free knitting videos!

Thanks,

Sheldon

It's under Tips & Techniques, and specifically it's the video on fixing a dropped stitch, and the other one about fixing a stitch without taking rows apart. They are both on the same page. I'm sorry if that might not be specific enough, I am new to the website. Thanks

I knew they were probably digital and didn't 'wear out'. Yet my internet connection seems to be fine for everything else. Although come to think of it, it skips and slows on movie trailers too. I have AT&T, doubt they'll do much to help me, but I'll try.

My bf had a suggestion - start it, then put it on pause for a minute to build up the buffer. That helps on videos that stop and start and jerk.

I checked those two videos and they work smoothly for me.

Try doing what Sue said. I've done that a few times for extra large videos and it usually works. You might also check to make sure your computer has all it's updates.

I kinda lived in the videos and have had that happen sometimes. Restarting the computer has always seemed to straighten it out.

It's your internet connection. I recently had that on Youtube, and asked my computer gurus at Virtualdr.com. If you try videos at other sites when that happens, you'll see it's you, not them

There's not much you can do when that happens, just wait it out till the connection returns to normal. If it happens frequently, take this Speed Test, write down the 2 numbers, and call your ISP.
