HELP UNDERSTANDING THIS PATTERN...

I'm making a cute Cabled Vest and just finished the back and about to start (for the 50th time) the left front. I'll put the first row below. My struggle is with the instructions, the last sentence, my placket is not shaping up to look like the photo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(RS) K1, (p2, ssk, yo) 2 times for Lace Pattern st, p1, k8, for Left Cable Panel, p1, (ssk, yo, p2) 4 times for Lace Pattern st, k2, p2, k2 for k2, p2 rib placket. (This last sentence is where I'm struggling).

What exactly in that row are you having problems with? You've got extra stitches left over, not enough stitches, don't understand an abriviation, some other issue?

You work the last 6 sts as k2 p2 k2 and that makes the ribbing on the placket. It may take a few rows for it to look right.

That particular pattern row starts right after 3" of 2 x 2 ribbing and you're correct, it's difficult to see right away. Thank you for making that clearer for me. Stay in stitches, Kay
