The 21 sts are actually how many you've worked - K2. P1. K1. P1. SL1. k1 psso. Pat (15) sts; leave the unworked sts just sitting on the needle. Later on you'll work those other sts, either one at a time or all together.

Hi sue, thanks for such a quick response..
when it says 2nd row: P2tog. Pat to last 7 sts. P2togtbl. K1. P1. K1. P2. Is this the remaining sts. after you have turned it?
greetings carroll from Holland.

No, it's the next row so it's probably on the 21 sts you did the first row. A link to the pattern would be helpful, if you have one. But don't worry about those leftover stitches, they'll get done eventually.

I didn't realize at first reading, you're working the neck shaping and doing one shoulder over just these 21 sts. Do the decs for your size, then 'fasten off' the yarn because you should be down to one st. Then you can cut it or leave it attached and use another skein or other end of that one and work the other shoulder. The center 23 sts will be put on a holder to be knit when you do the collar.

problems with turn
Hi all knitters,

I am relatively new to knitting and have started my first jumper.

Reading through my pattern for what is titled a 'peplum' I have the following instructions;

cast on 60sts
begin with a knit row
row 1 - K
row 2 - K1, p58, k1
row 3 - k
row 4 - k1 p57 turn
row 5 - sl1, k to end
etc.....

I have worked out that to turn I just leave the last 2 stitches on the needle but no where in the rest of my pattern does it say to pick them up and continue to work on them!

If I dont pick them up again wont my work just unravel itself???

Help please.

xxxxxxxx

Yes it will say that you knit those sts later on. If not specifically, it may say to knit all the sts. You'll probably be leaving sts on both ends 2 at a time for a while

I'm not sure where you are in the peplum but are you sure the pattern never deals with those 2 sts in the later rows? Is there a band up the front of the sweater (cardigan?) that uses them, perhaps under "Finishing"?
Is there a link to the entire pattern?
