What does continue even mean?
In my pattern instructions, it says continue even until sleeve measures 4 1/2 inches total length. What does continue even mean and also when it says total length does that mean from the k2 p2 cuff or just when I changed to stocking stitch. (the sleeve seams really short to me, its size 3 months)

Since this is a sleeve, you may have been periodically increasing at the sides after knitting the cuff. Continue even means with no shaping, so no increases or decreases, just continue in stockinette.
When it says total length, it usually means from the cast on edge. Four and 1/2" sounds about right for the sleeve for a 3 month old.
