Icelandic Sweaters - How to knit

Hi there, lovely forum that I just found out

Last year I bought on internet tons of Lopi yarn, I mean TONS!! with an only idea: knit this http://www.flickr.com/photos/rebba/4...57604564573252 and so on. I love that kind of sweater but I'm totally stuck :( with tons of yarn and I'm not able to knit that round shape at nearly neck border and shoulder, I don't have even a clue :(

So I decided buying some patterns but they are in english and I'm from Spain and this is a little bit complicated to me to understand that kind of language.

I was so happy at first when buying the yarns

and now I'm kind of desperate.

Could anyone give me a hand please?

I will be eternally grateful

For that type of sweater you are usually knitting in the round on circular needles and doing fair isle (aka stranded knitting). There is a video in our video section under advanced techniques. It takes a little practice to get the tension right so I suggest making something smaller first.. like a hat.

You may be able to find icelandic yoked sweater patterns at the Drops site - they have an option for different languages, including spanish.

Ahh, I found several colorwork sweaters at the index for this collection. They have mitts and socks too.

There's also a book which is often in libraries here and available on Amazon. It's all beautiful sweater patterns with Lopi.

As soon as I get home I upload a picture with stuff I knit so far.

You may also want to search fair isle and stranded knitting on YouTube.

Your English seems fairly good and between being able to watch the video and hearing the description of what is being done they can be very helpful.

This is what I have knitted so far. The left one is the arm, I don't like very much that down part, anyway this is my first sweater and as I said a little bit up I have tons of lopi yarn so I HAVE TO learn.

It looks like you're pulling the floats to tightly. Make sure you keep them very loose.
