Bulky Sweater
I'm looking for a sweater pattern that uses bulky yarn. This will be my first sweater, so I want to make it less daunting by using a bulkier yarn. I wondered if anyone had any good suggestions?

There are so many types of sweaters it would help if you'd narrow down what you want. Cardigan or pullover? Free or purchase? Seamless or seamed?

Here's a few to start -

For my very first sweater I used a book called "The Yarn Girls' Guide to Simple Knits" by Julie Carles & Joanna Jacobs. The directions are VERY simple to follow and I even changed the pattern a little but still EASY to do!!!

I did notice that their patterns are more for "thinner" women, of which I am not. But I was able to find one that worked.

Have you checked the website for the yarn you're using? Often they have free patterns listed that use the same yarn.

Sorry, I meant to recommend the sweater patterns in that "Yarn Girls" book, not the whole book!!!! I made the one called "A Tempting Turtleneck" and the instructions are VERY easy to follow.

Check to see if your local library has it, because that's what I did and I loved it!!!

This is a great bulky yarn pullover. I've knit it several times. It is a great design because it is also dropped shoulders. No armhole shaping on the body pieces nor the sleeves.

This is a great book! I've knit numerous patterns from it! Still do!

Available at Amazon, used or new.
