I'm a new knitter and trying to find a pattern for a cable afghan. Several that I have looked at omit a row 4 and 6 is there a reason for this or I'm I viewing just type-o's

We need the links to these patterns to know for sure. There are a bunch of patterns for cabled afghans so it's hard to answer with more details.

What weight yarn do you want to use?

When asking questions ALWAYS post the name and a link for the pattern if you have it.

A lot of times the instructions for row 2 will say "Row 2 and all WS or even rows:" so that would include rows 4 and 6. Usually it's just to knit the sts as they appear, all the cross sts would be on the RS odd rows.
