How do I "work in established kp pattern"?
I'm a bit of a novice knitter. I'm working on a scarf (pattern is at djinnj.livejournal.com/196257.html) and some of the terminology is really confusing me.

I'm in section 2 of the scarf, which reads (the bolded parts are also bolded in the original pattern):
Quote:
Section 2: beginning of main motif.
r1 (r16): p2, k2, p2, k6, p2, k2, p2, k10, p2, k2, p2, k6, p2, k2, p2 (46)
2: work as established.
3: p2, c1b, p2, [plait 2 (k2, c2f)], p2, c1b, p2, [aran honeycomb inc from 10 to 16st: {k1, (k1 and k1 tbl in same st; k1 in st below), k1, (k1 tbl and k1 in same st), k1} {k1, (k1 tbl and k1 in same st), k1, (k1 in st below; kn1 tbl and k1 in same st), k1}], p2, c1f, p2, [plait 1 (c2f, k2)], p2, c1f, p2. (52st)
4-6: work 3r in established kp pattern
I finished row 3 and now I'm confused at "4-6: work 3r in established kp pattern". I know that can't mean "repeat row 3" because row 3 has all those increases. But that can't mean "repeat row 1" because row 1 only has 46 stitches (and after finishing row 3 my knitting has 52 stitches).

I've done a Google search for "as established" and I can't find any explanations that I understand. :/

I'd appreciate any help...thank you

The main pattern is k6, p2 k2, p2 ribbing with the 6 knit sts forming the cable. You're increasing the sts from 10 to 16 only in the honeycome cable pattern, so the sts outside it will stay the same.

I think "4-6: work 3r in established kp pattern" means for rows 4, 5, and 6, work these 3 rows (3r) in the pattern you've established in row 2. Knit the V's and purl the loops with no increases or cable crosses.
