Warm Up America-Where to donate???
I have crocheted and knitted many WUA rectangles (wonderful stash-busters), saving them until I had enough to make a sizeable donation. I have scoured the internet looking for sites which would direct me to where I may drop off my pieces (I don't want to assemble them myself). I had always heard that Michaels would accept donations, but every Michaels store I've contacted, (both in New Jersey, where I lived for years, and now in the Tampa, Florida area) didn't know what the heck I was even talking about. I got the following address from the WUA website:

Warm Up America! Foundation
469 Hospital Dr., Suite E, Gastonia, NC 28054

I wouldn't mind packing them all up and mailing them, but I want to be sure this is the correct address to which my project pieces should be sent (and not just WUA Administration HQ, or the like), in other words, the address from which they would actually be distributed.

Any other ideas or suggestions, especially around the Tampa area, would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

You are welcome to mail your squares to the address you mentioned. That is the correct address for the headquarters for Warm Up America.

Here is the note from their website:
"Volunteers donate their time to crochet and knit a 7" x 9" rectangle (or more). Sections are either joined by individuals or groups in a community and donated locally or sent to Foundation headquarters for joining and distribution."

Michaels and Warm up America squares
I got to this site by accident; but I was reading about Warm Up America. I have recently started teaching knitting and crocheting at a Michaels Store in New Lenox, Ill. We asked for squares for Warm Up America and I was amazed at how many we got back. Putting them together takes a lot of time; but we are working at it. So if you do not have a Michaels does not follow through, i am sorry. But know that some are working on the squares and they will be donated, We are as dedicated to helping the same as you are for making the squares. And thanks to the people who donated them to this store.
