Newbie here, need some minor help..

Anyone able to help me over webcam? I just started knitting today with my sister, and she knows WAY more than I do.. i started doing a row and then I messed up somewhere in there and then when the row ended some of it came off the needle and I dont know what to do now.. I can go on facebook live webcam chat or msn webcam

I can't help you with private lessons via webcam. (Can't speak for others.) However, just to comment on your situation: if your row is messed up...just pull it all off the needle, unravel the entire mess....cast on again, and have another run at it. Don't feel bad either. We all do it all the time. Myself included. Sometimes it's just easier to start over than to try to fix a mess.

I would like to encourage you to watch all of our free videos here at Knitting Help...and also, YOUTUBE has a lot of free knitting videos. I used them myself, especially for techniques that I don't use all the time. I've been knitting for a long time, but not an expert by far on all that knitting presents!

Our moderator, Sue (suzeeq) is just about as close to an expert on all aspects of knitting that I've seen!
But I doubt that she would be able to, or have the time to, give you private knitting lessons via webcam. She'll no doubt weigh-in on your request today sometime.

and besides, I don't have a webcam.

Sometimes if you post a picture, we can see what's going on and get you straightened out.

You can take lessons at your local yarn shop. If you can't afford to do that, you can bring your knitting in. The shop owner will be happy to give you a little help at no charge. At least my LYS does that.

Sometimes these things happen. If you're just starting to knit you have to make mistakes and sometimes that means starting over. Sometimes it means pressing on with the work. Don't expect perfection, keep on knitting and you'll learn. I remember my first knitted ~rectangle and it showed all the possible errors. Don't hesitate to take advantage of your sister's knowledge and experience and ask her to tell you where it all went wrong. She'll feel great and you'll learn something.

Several years ago, I learned to knit from a book, then gave it up because I knew no knitters and didn't really know what to do. Then I got online and found videos! written instructions! forums! I've still got a lot to learn before I will really consider myself a knitter, every project is a chance to learn something new. This forum is the best resource I've found, both for getting specific questions answered and for figuring out what the question I need to ask is. Searching on the right terms often helps. Check out the tutorial videos on this site, search youtube, read other new knitters' questions and the answers they get. Hang in there, it's worth it. I've made 2 sweaters for GKs with help from the wonderful people here and now I'm working on a sweater for me. Making wash cloths is a good start, they're small and usable in spite of mistakes. My GD went home with the last one I made.
