My first project

I'm working on a gift for my Mom. It's not a Christmas gift really but it would be nice to get it done in time..it's actually a "just because I love you" gift. I've never made anything that wasn't food and given it to someone so this is a big deal..on a few levels. It's a fairly big throw and I kept it simple to match her taste in a light green to match her decor. Not sure how much she'll use it living on the coast but that's not too important. I'm only three rows into the pattern but when it's done it'll look like this. What do you think?
She lives in another state so keeping a secret is easy. She thinks I'm making pot holders..I even sent her pics of my practice squares to fool her further. I want it to be a true surprise..not even telling her when I mail it.

I think it is lovely. I know I have a pattern somewhere I used to make pillows with a similar pattern and they were really easy to do so good luck with it. What color are you going to make it??? Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Thats a really nice laprug Country Mama, I would love that on my lap on a cold winter day. Is that a bought pattern? I've been looking for a lap rug pattern to knit with my boucle wool and that pattern, I think, would come up nicely with this yarn.
