Looking for some help

I don't know who to ask or where to put this so I'm very sorry if this is in the wrong spot. I'm trying to find a way to make a baby blanket but I would like to put the letter B in the center of it. I don't know how to create a pattern so that it would work. So any help would greatly be appreciated. I'm just a beginner at knitting so I only know how to add/decrease stitches, purl and the normal knitting. Thanks for any help.

Do you want the B to be textural only.. like purls for the B and the rest of the blanket stockinette? Here's a few pictures to see what I mean -

Or do you actually want to make it a different color? To do it a different color you'll need to use intarsia. It's not hard, but takes practice.

I want it more like the second link on the first one. The purls for the B. I would like the letter B a lot bigger then what it is in either of those pictures.

Okay, I don't know of any pattern that has that already done for you. So what you need to do is chart your own.

Basically what you need to do though is figure out how many you're going to cast on, figure how wide the border is going to be, and figure out how large you want the letter within the center. Then you'll have to figure out where the center is on the letter, etc.

Thank you very much for all the help but after sitting here for two hrs and following the instructions to graph it step by step and it not working I'm just going to give up on my thought for doing this. But thank you again.

That's not a bad idea, Sadie! Make squares and one can have the B and then sew them together.
