Thanks for the ideas. I may just do that. I've never knitted in just squares before. The last couple of blankets I did were in one. So I definitely wouldn't know how to get the B so that it is in more then one square. The sewing together part is what would get me and how big to put the squares. LOL Sorry for the late response to this as I just got it now.

I'm on my phone, but when I get back on the computer I can post some ideas for the squares and letters.

Okay, here some ideas.

This one is like blocks, but knit in one piece. You could just ignore the teddies and just knit and purl (or whatever) all the squares except for the middle one. Each "block" appears to be 32x40 stitches (not counting the borders). So get some graph paper and make a B and then you can purl those stitches on a knit background. Or duplicate stitch after it's done.

Here's a chart, but the letter may be on the small side. You could center it though and it might be fine.

It's the letter that keeps tripping me up..

That is what gets me is the Letter. So far I have never done anything without having it written out in front of me. So it's throwing me off for when I add the letter I don't know if I would knit or purl. For example when I'm doing my knitting it will say
K3 p23 k3 etc.

What you do on the letter depends on which stitch you're knitting. If your square is in stockinette and the knit side is the front the letter stitches will be purled.

On the back where you'd be purling the main part of the block you'll knit the stitches that are letter.

As long as you do it right the first pass then all you have to remember is to knit the knit stitches and purl the purls on that block.

Does that help?

Yes it does. Thank you very much for all the information. I'm going to start working on this after all the Christmas rush is over.

You're very welcome! I'm glad I could help. If I think of anything else I'll give it shot when i have some time, too. My daughter is arriving from Washington DC for a visit tomorrow and I know I'll be busy for the next week anyway.
