Yes, the lighter colored sts can be made with roving or top (unspun yarn) so that you have a thick blanket inside the mitten (or hat). Here's a how-to. It's a great technique for really warm projects.

I just want to add one more link cause Stephanie's mittens are 'oh, so beautiful'. She also explains the process, it starts a few posts back

I trust you know I'm teasing,* and I LOVE to look at your finished projects (or half-finished projects or ideas for projects or any other kind of project you care to post).

Keep 'em coming!!!

*P.S. Just checking to make sure I don't hurt anyone's feelings. It can happen so easily when you can't see facial expressions or hear someone's tone of voice.

Yeah, I know, I know Sometimes it's hard to joke online, but I am sure with your sense of humour you understand that I joke back. Too many smiley faces kind of kill sarcasm, don't you think?

But it was sweet of you to post it anyway.

Yup, I thought you were joking back, but I just wanted to make sure. I've learned the hard way that you can't be too careful! And besides, I'd really hate to miss out on your next fabulous FO!!! And yes, I think the smiley faces can kinda kill (or, ahem, overkill in GG's case) the subtly of a statement!

Uhhhh, GG? I think you overkilled the overkill on the icons there!!! Ha!!

Your knitting is simply PERFECTION, Olha! I always love to see what you are up to! And although I've said this before...I love your photography so much! It makes such a nice experience!

Right back at you. But seriously, thank you, ladies. You spoil me with your comments and encourage me to take time and make those pictures. Local landscapes on the background are supposed to provide context and create a sense of connection. I think it stems from the new appreciation of handmade items no matter who made them.

Also, it's just so much fun!
