Knitting with dpns

This is my first time with dpns and I had a quick question.

Im making a baby sweater and the sleeves are knit in the round.

I have 33 stitches that I placed on a stitch holder that make the sleeve and need to be knit in the round. How will I divide them? Should I do 11 stitches each on 3 needles and use the 4th needle to start knitting in the round?

Sure, you can divide the sts exactly evenly at this point on the 3 needles. You may or may not have some decreases at the beginning and end of the row so the number of sts may change but it's not necessary to have exactly the same number of sts per needle, just approximately the same. If you have a pattern st however, for example a cable or a twist, make sure you have sts to complete that stitch on a single needle.
