The tree of life baby afghan is from Lion Brand. I am hoping someone can tell me what "no stitch" means in the "twin trees chart". Thanks for your help!

Usually "no stitch" means that on the previous row, two sts were knit together. "No stitch" is there to keep the grid of the chart regular but in the actual knitting, the stitch doesn't exist. Just skip that box on the chart and go on to the next one.

A no stitch block means "there's no stitch on your needle for this square so skip it and go to the next box". It's just there to square up the chart.
