I have a pattern that has the term "2 over 2 front cross". Can someone tell me what that means?

Well, I've never seen it written that way, but I'd guess it's a cable. Do you have a pattern link or at least the name of the pattern? That always helps.

Yes, a cable where you put 2sts onto a cable needle and hold in front, knit 2sts and then knit the 2sts from the cable needle. The pattern should define this, perhaps somewhere at the beginning of the instructions or sometimes at the end.
