Is a dec 2 the same as a K2tog?
Brand new knitter and am loving it! But some of the terminology has me stumped. I would like to knit a beginner baby blanket pattern shown in the Red Heart website called Precious Baby Blanket. On one pattern line its says to: {K1, P1} 3 times,* K1, yo, K4, dec 2, K4, yo.....etc.
Is the "dec 2" the same as K2tog? Or should I be using some other kind of decrease?
Thanks for the help.

Way up at the beginning of the directions it defines dec 2 as "(decrease 2 sts) = slip 2 sts together knitwise, knit
next st, pass the 2 slipped sts over the knit st".

(A k2tog is only a decrease one st.) Very pretty baby blanket. Good luck with it.

Decrease 2 would be a double dec, k2tog is only a single dec or 'dec 1'. Do the dec 2 as defined in the pattern.

So Salmonmac,

Yes, slip 2 knitwise, k1, pass 2 slipped sts over. You've got it!
