lace socks problems with following pattern

help having problems following pattern. anybody work with toe up lace socks?

What pattern are you following and where are you having a problem?

starting the lace portion. sounds like top of sock has 33 stitches to start and bottom 32. I figured that to follow pattern need 36 stitches to correctly follow row 1. the pattern is called purdy peas found free online. Row 1: k1,*yf, k2 , sl1-k2tog-psso, k2, yf, k1* (x4), knit to end of round

There's 8 repeated sts, times 4 is 32 plus 1 at the begiing is 33. A yo doesn't use a stitch, the sl1k2togpsso decs 2 sts that the yo adds.

thanks found it the * I was adding the k1 at beginning every time.

I just read a post here that said the YO doesn't count as a stitch. That sure clears up the problem I was having also. I counted the stitches I already knitted (right needle) in order to figure out how many I had to go (I got lost lol) I was all mixed up because I was counting the YO as a stitch.

It counts as a stitch after you make it, but it doesn't use a stitch before you finish the row. Just like a dec uses 2 sts but results in one when you're done.
