knitting stripes
I'm starting a baby blanket that will have horizontal stripes; two colors only; six rows of one color and two rows of the other. How do I alternate yarns so there are not lots of loose ends?

You won't have to cut the color that has 6 rows, you can carry it up the 2 rows of the other color. When you change colors, loosely wrap one around the other at the edge and begin knitting with the new color. It might be possible to carry the one color up 6 rows as long as you keep it loose, but not too droopy. That way you won't have to cut them.

A lot of times I have to do that with fair isle knitting. If I don't like the look of the yarn changes going up the side, I will single crochet a border around the blanket and crochet over those. They're hidden.
