The yo and k2tog should cancel each other out.
When you slip with the yarn in front/back, it just carries the yarn across a stitch. When you work the next stitch, make sure the yarn is in the right position. Move the yarn to the position it tells you, slip the stitch as if to purl and move the yarn back to where it was.
