knitting help I am confused on this pattern

making a little knitted badger and have finish the first side head piece. But I am confused about the pattern directions for the second piece???? It said second side peice work to correspond with first side reversing all shapings by beginning second piece with a purl row & working all subsequent knit rows as purl & all subsequent purl rows as knit. Kep all shaping as placed
What the heck is this all about. Hope someone can help put this in english for me.

To 'reverse' shaping you put the decreases on the other edge of the piece. On the first one you might have done decs at the beginning of a knit row, so for the other piece, you do them at the end of the knit row. If the pattern has you BO stitches, you can't do them at the end of the row, you would have to do that at the beg of the next row which would be the purl row.

The pattern pretty much explains how to get started though - beginning second piece with a purl row & working all subsequent knit rows as purl & all subsequent purl rows as knit - so you would just read the pattern the opposite of what's written for the first piece. You would start by purling a row instead of knitting it and just do purl rows instead of knits, or knit rows instead of purls.

on the pattern first side 4th was a purl with casting on 5 stitches at the beginning - do I do a knit row with the 5 stitches case on at the end???? This pattern doesn't seem to be sinking in?!? SVS

You can still CO the sts at the beginning of the row. I think the only thing that you do is 'reverse' the stitches. By doing that, the shaping will also be reversed when you have the RS facing you on both pieces. You can do that now - take the first piece and lay it down with the knit side up, then lay down the other piece on the needles with the knit side up too, and you'll see how the shaping will automatically be on the other side.
