I have a pattern with the following instructions- ([K,yo] 3 times, k1) in the same stitch, 6 stitches increased. I cannot seem to figure this out. Anyone done this before?

You're going to do all of that in the same stitch. Knit into it and leave it on the needle, yo, then k1 again, yo, k1, yo and finally one more knit. You'll end up with 7 new stitches instead of 1, that's where the 6 st inc comes from.
