Question about attached pattern

The attached pattern "Basic Seamless Bitty Pullover" by Christa Dicken was taken from Ravelry.com.

After completing ribbing, the pattern calls for a setup round of
k17, pm, k16, pm, k17, pm, k16, sm.

Then for round 1 (an increase round) it says
(k1, m1l, k to 2 sts before marker, m1r, k1, sm) repeat.

My question is if I knit to two stitches to the marker then add a stitch I still have 2 stitces remaining until the marker, but the pattern says k1 then sm.

Am I to knit one stitch then advance the marker one stitch forward, or knit the last two stitches after the m1r, or do the m1r prior to last last stitch?

It sounds like you are increasing the stitches to form the sleeves. Is this from the top down? When it says slip the marker you are just transferring the marker from one needle to the next needle if knitting flat. But you are knitting in the round, you just slip the marker to the other needle and continue knitting the pattern.

This bit of the pattern shows that you increase before the marker and after the marker because you are forming the raglan sleeve increases

If you knit to 2 sts before and inc then k1, maybe it should be kfb instead of m1. That may not work out with the stitch numbers and markers so you could knit to 1 stitch before, m1, k1, etc. Do not move the marker to another place.

This the sweater's body being knitted using magic loop. The instructions say to knit to the last two stitches then add a stitch. At this point i still have two stitches until the marker but the instructions say to knit one then slip. The math does not add up.

They probably be considering the M1L or M1R plus the stitch it's worked next to as one stitch. Then you have stitch 2 and then the marker. I think you could work to one stitch before the marker, M1, k1 and slip marker and be OK.

I noticed instead of defining m1L/R she said to use any increase of your choice. Some people who write patterns to their blog will use 'make 1' generically for an increase, not always meaning 'm1' done between stitches.

I think this is the pattern.

The number of sts and a single inc at each marker don't add up for me. Each round is to inc 8 sts, there are 4 markers w/ 1 inc ea. The cast on is 66 sts, then:

" Rnd 1: (k1, m1L, k to 2 sts before marker, m1R, k1, sm) repeat around. (74 sts)
Rnd 2: Knit all.
Rnd 3: Repeat Rnd 1 (increase rnd). (82 sts) (You should be able to switch to the 16” circular on this row.)
Rnd 4: Knit all.
Rnd 5: Repeat Rnd 1 (increase rnd). (90 sts)"

The way I'm reading it, you need a double inc at ea marker to obtain the stitch count indicated.

Not a double inc, but you would knit to 2 sts before the marker to use a kfb, knit to 1 st before to do a m1.
