mittens help
OK so I decided to try knitting a couple of mittens.

Using 6mm needles, cast on 28 sts, work 10 rows stocking st
Change to 7mm needles, work a further 20 rows stocking st

SHAPE THUMBHOLE -

1st row - K1, cast off 5 sts (thumbhole), knit to end.
2nd row - Purl to last st, turn, cast on 5 sts, turn, P1

Work 15 rows stocking st.

OK - so I'm confused about the instruction in "2nd row" above - do I purl to the last st AND PURL IT or LEAVE IT?? cast on 5 sts, turn, P1.

Help!

1st row - K1, cast off 5 sts (thumbhole), knit to end.
2nd row - Purl to last st, turn, cast on 5 sts, turn, P1

After you bind off 5 sts and knit to the end, turn your work and purl to the last st. before the bind off. Turn the right needle and cast on 5 sts, turn it back to normal position and purl the last st, which was the K1 from row 1.

Thanks GG - I'll try this now (another example of ambiguous patterns).

And, hey presto, watch me pull a rabbit out of the hat.

It worked - Grumpy's legendary.
