confusing instructions
Hi! So here's the thing about some knitting instructions, they're so cryptic. I'm starting on the Meret beret by Woolly Wormhead on Ravelry. One of the stitches is: sk2po, and the legend says:

"slip next stitch, then knit next 2 stitches together, then pass slipped stitch over"

Slip knitwise? Purlwise? Pass the slipped stitch over what? And what do I do with that stitch then?

It's sort of a basic lace pattern. I'd give you a link, but I am also sort of computer challenged. I tried to post a picture once, and iTunes hijacked my iPhone. I had to empty the phone and reset it to the factory settings and lost all my contacts.I never have any luck with electronics! TIA!

According to the video in the glossary of a similar stitch you slip knit wise.

Whenever a slip stitch is part of a decrease, always slip knitwise. Any other slip stitch is purlwise.

Hmmm, it's not really either; it's part of a lace pattern. Also, when I pass the yarn over, do I put it back on the left needle, or drop it off the right?

You don't pass the yo over, just the slip stitch. Written out, skpo means 'slip 1, k1 pass slipped st over'. The 'o' is for over and is part of 'po' for 'pass over'.

Slip Knit Pass English Method
also known as sl1, k1, psso

The video shows a k1 where you need k2tog. Just sub the k2tog for the k1.

Thanks, guys! I thought that was it, but I wasn't sure if it was supposed to go back to the left needle. Now I know that pass it back over what I just knit and let it drop off the right needle.

And just so you know, sk2po IS a decrease. You are decreasing two stitches with this method.
