Baby Zelda Outfit Pattern
I'm stuck on step 8 of the sweater portion.
Quote:
Step 8 Divide stitches among 3 needles as follows:
Needle 1 (left back): 21 stitches
Needle 2 (front): 40 stitches
Needle 3 (right back): 21 stitches

You will now be working the three pieces (left back, front,
and right back) separately. If you donít work the pieces
separately, you wonít have armholes! Continue working the
buttonhole placket and buttonholes as established in step 7.

I can't seem to figure out what I did wrong here. I did everything the pattern said and I have 88 sts. I end up with 6 more stitches for the front of the sweater.

It could be that they are not counting the 6 stitches for the placket. The pattern starts with 21 stitches for the front and then the placket stitches are added. My guess is that they were not included in the count.

Okay so the back park of the placket button band thingy was not taken into account. Now, I feel a little stupid, yet accomplished.

Never feel stupid!! Each pattern presents a learning opportunity.

I am stuck on step 5...

"To create overlap for the button placket, pick up the loops from the right side from the 6 stitches you purled in step 3. The 12 stitches (6 on each side) forming the button placket should be worked in garter stitch. "

I am slightly at a loss here. Am I suppose to move some stitches around prior to doing this? I currently have stitches divided up on the needles as 28, 28, 26.

Any help would be awesome!! Thank you!
