toddler birthday party and gifts
My son is turning 3 the end of this month and we will have a BBQ/party for him (and his little brother who turns 1 a few wks later). It started as a family BBQ and then friends wanted to come and so now it is a full on birthday party.
Is there proper etiguette for opening/not opening gifts at a party? When I was a kid everyone brought a gift and they were always opened after the cake. Now it seems like when we go to parties gifts are either not opened or each gift is opened as it is brought. One party we went to the mom opened all the gifts !!

I always thought you opened gifts after the cake as well. I say let him open the gifts after the cake.

I say do it any way you want to. It's your party, so you get to make the rules--and the schedule.

But do I recommend that you have fun!!!

I think you can do it as you like, but I know that when I bring a gift to a party, I LOVE seeing the giftee open it! It is always thrilling to see the response and hope, hope, hope that he or she likes it!

Thank you ! My plan was to let him open the gifts after the cake. I too like to see gifts opened if I am going to spend the time and money shopping. Now to figure out how to make a green elephant cake....
