Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?
This sheep isn't black, but does have wool! Apparently it was on the lam.

I found this on FB with this caption:

Quote:
This NZ sheep avoided shearing for 6 years by hiding in caves ... it had enough fleece for 20 suits when it was finally sheared. Hopefully it felt a bit cooler and lighter afterwards!

Which hermit sheep is this? Shrek? Horrietta? There have been a few over the past 10 or so years, most of them (I think?) in New Zealand.

Great pic! I hope it enjoyed its new haircut, and freedom from all that weight, sheesh.

on the subject of wool shopping, which is why I first noticed this topic and came in here.....I'm having difficulty locating any yarn shops nearby. They seem to disappear very shortly after opening. There was a really good one, here in Perth, Ontario....(Canada) which managed to stay open for 10 years, in her home.

but alas, she went the way of most yarn stores....into oblivion.

Now there are many roving knitters, roaming the streets of Perth, searching, searching, looking at sheep longingly.

WIll we have to learn to sheer, spin and wind our own wool? Sob.

That's an old Johnny Carson (American comedian) joke: What goes siss-boom-bahh? Answer: a sheep exploding! You Aussies might not get it, I think "sis-boom-bah" is a cheerleading refrain.

OK, so I had to go look for Hermit Sheep. I'd always wondered what happened if sheep shunned shearing, now I know.

Exploding sheep... LOL
