Too excited not to share this one
I am knitting, does this qualify then as knitting related? I don't know how to turn off the flash, another lesson my DH needs to teach me. Just took this picture, off the living room, on our deck:

Hawks are awesome! We see them occasionally, too.

Earlier today DH yelled down from upstairs, I heard “There’s a fox on the deck”, he said “There’s a hawk on the bench”. We hear them every day, last week I saw one on our front lawn as I was driving, approaching the house.

The one in this photo was no more than twenty feet from us. What a thrill!

I see them floating and hear them calling all the time, but rarely see one perched, and then it's always in the higher branches. So cool that you were able to get a picture of it.

Thank you so much for the photo and the context. I actually had a hawk fly through the side yard where I lived once. My GD (then about 5) and I were outside at the time and it was so close! I see them riding the thermals here, bald eagles too. I just love seeing them.

Wonderful picture and so lucky to be able to get it. I've never seen a hawk this close.

Great picture. I love watching wild animals and birds especially when they are that close. You can see all the different shades of color on it's feathers.

BTW I'm jealous. Even if you don't have the absolutely best photo, you were there and had it looking in at you. I'm glad you got to see it that way.

If you were here in late spring you may be singing a different tune.

All day long, at least two of three of them, did not stop, the screaming. DH was constructing the shed and I don't recall what he said about them, but it was not nice.

Last year, one of them was chasing a bird, there was quite a tussle as both of them crashed into a bush out front, and then they both flew off into the forest.

Seriously, though, last night was quite a sight. I was happy to have had my camera at hand.
