Curling from my binding off
Hi,

I'm making some simple handwarmers:

- when I finished binding off I realized it was curling outwards (at the left). I bound off in knit - if I were to bind off in purl, would it curl inwards instead?

(the main body is stockinette stitch btw.)

Edit: please note this isn't about the stockinette stitching curling (I already had an experience with that) I'm talking specifically about the border/binding at the top of the handwarmer (on the left side in the picture.)

Have you tried blocking the hand warmers? If they're wool you may be able to pin them out and wet block them. I've also seen the suggeston to bind off tightly using a size smaller needle to lessen this curling but I've never tried this.

Stockinette curls on all sides really. If you used a mostly wool yarn you might be able to block them to minimize the effect. The best way is probably a nice wide border of garter, ribbing or seed stitch.. I don't think binding off in purl will make that much difference, but it's worth a try.

Whether you BO in knit or purl doesn't matter, its whether you BO on the RS or the WS. If you want to hide the BO stitch, BO on the WS and the edge will be hidden on the inside of your warmers.
